X Marks the Spot just recently opened in the new Southern Market Food Hall. If you grew up eating Southern food but haven't had it in awhile, this is the place to go that will take you back to simpler times! The food is amazing and you get great portions. The cornbread is a must try for anyone that likes a great cornbread!! And the fried fish is so delicious, sometimes I stop by just for that!! 😁 Just take a look at that plate!! 😋
One word... Amazing! Everything was absolutely fantastic, not to mention the portions are gigantic! Hands down some of the very best southern style soul food I've ever had 💯 Jonathan and his crew do an amazing job. Go there and see for yourself! FYI- that isn't the full portion of fish in the pic I included. I HAD to tear into it before I could even remember to take the picture so keep in mind I ate half of the "smaller" piece already!
HIT EVERY NOTE ON THE PAGE!!! Being a southerner in Pennsylvania is not easy when it comes to eating. Every bite of this was a taste of home and I will return without a doubt! All the right spices and every bit of the flavor I hoped for. What I think of for a family dinner at grandma's, all of it. Portions will fill you and leave some for later. Come eat like you mean it!!
This place has amazing food and their service is fabulous! If you’re ever in the Southern Market, make a trip over and give them a try. The fried fish, cabbage, seafood salad, string beans, mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes were all mouth watering 🤤 My family and I will definitely be returning when we’re in the area!
Love JP’s Food is one of the best cooks around. I absolutely love the mac and cheese, the cabbage, and the chicken tenders—honestly, everything is amazing. I have not had a single thing that I didn’t like. So many soul food restaurants don’t last, often due to gentrification, and that’s exactly why this place deserves our support. Let’s all show this place some love and continue to support our heritage and cultural food spots so we can keep places like this around for years to come.

Food was excellent, very good flavor and large portions! Our group tried the fried shrimp, chicken wings, chicken sandwich, rice, mac & cheese, green beans, and fries, and everything was so good. We will definitely return!
We went to the new location on west lemon street for dinner tonight and the food was amazing. My husband and I can’t stop talking about it. We got the spicy chicken sandwich and the piece of chicken was huge and was cooked perfectly. We also got chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and yams and everything was so delicious. Will definitely be back again soon!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ X Marks the Spot is EVERYTHING! The service was amazing and the food was straight up delicious. Soul food is my favorite, and they did not disappoint one bit. The mac and cheese, greens, sweet potatoes, and green beans were all on point, and that fish platter was just what the doctor ordered perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The atmosphere really sealed the deal for me. Old-school 80s and 90s R&B and feel-good music had the whole place vibing. I honestly didn’t mind waiting at all while the staff put together five platters for me and my family it was well worth it. Highly recommended 👌
